Smart Bricks are prefabricated solid wooden building blocks that can be assembled like a plug-in system to form load-bearing or non-load-bearing interior and exterior walls. The system has already been successfully installed in over 110,000 square metres of wall space and is suitable for single-family homes, smaller multi-ownership projects, and also for applications in the agricultural, commercial and municipal sectors.

The construction system consists of precisely installed elements that are joined layer by layer to form walls.  A special interlocking connection ensures stability – even at corners and wall connections. Pipes and cables can be installed very easily and all matching modules complete the Smart Brick building system.

Due to the small size and low weight of the moduls, delivery is possible even to construction sites that are difficult to access without truck.

Smart Bricks are particularly suitable for regions with a shortage of skilled labour. A single specialist is sufficient for the training on the construction site – all further steps can be taken over by helpers or the builders themselves. This makes the system ideal for self-construction projects, community buildings or markets with little craftsmanship potential.

The system also meets high technical requirements: walls with plasterboard already attached achieve sound insulation of Rw > 40 dB, and with sand filling, even up to Rw = 48 dB. Fire protection is at REI30 and more. Smart Bricks are suitable for buildings with up to three full storeys and a developed attic space. In combination with the Smart Floor, a recessed attic floor can also be realised.

The house has a surface under construction area of 230m2. Total of 615m2 of SmartBrick wooden blocks were used for the walls, and 435m2 of floor/ceiling elements and roof structures were added.

This house was erected in just 16 days.
